Description
The Robert Sorby Eccentric Chuck is the mostsophisticated chuck for multi-center turning.
Ease and accuracy of adjustment (withoutremoving the workpiece from the chuck) is providedby the unique offset boss which accommodatesthe three different driving components on which tomount your workpieces, viz:-
1 – Screw chuck
2 – Ball drive and socket
3 – Faceplate
The Eccentric Chuck provides the means ofdriving from the head stock with or withouttail stock support. The boss can be off-setincrementally by 1-1/4 (30mm) from zero datum point.
Screw chuck: The 25 x 10mm dia.parallel wood screwprovides tremendous grip in either side-or end-grain. Requires an 8mm pilot hole.
Faceplate: an alternative method of attaching the work piece. Allowing the turner flexibility of approach. Ideal for larger work.
Hexagonal ball and socket drive: A unique system for driving between centers.The hexagonal ball and socket unit allows the work piece to be angled within 20 degrees of thelathes axis. Ideal for Cabrioletlegs. The socketcomponent is flanged and drilled for attachingto the work but can also be re positioned toindex a variety of polygon sections. Allowingeccentric turning at one end of the workblending into concentricity at the other.
Unit comes standard with 1-1/2″ x 6 TPI threads. Adapters to interface with other thread sizes are available separately.
